Operation Happy Note is a volunteer effort to send musical instruments to deployed service men and women throughout the world. Steve and Barb Baker from Alexandria, MN. and ran Fergus Music started Operation Happy Note  in March 2005 after their son was deployed to Iraq. They sent him a guitar and one to his friend, too. These soldiers were so pleased to have instruments while deployed that we found a way to get more instruments to our troops hence:  Operation Happy Note.   With the help of thousands of great Americans, we have now sent over 4000 instruments, including guitars, mandolins, banjos, violins, harmonicas, and accessories. Steve also wrote a lesson program with CD for those who don't know how to play. Thousands of requests are still coming in; clearly these soldiers need the joy that music brings them.

In March of 2011 Operation Happy Note recruited new volunteer help. Kelly Randolph, Amanda Randolph, and Justin Landt joined as fulltime Volunteers helping oversee daily operations as well as continuing efforts to grow Operation Happy Note to a national level.

Operation Happy Note is doing it's very best to support all our service men and women. At this time we have limited instruments in stock waiting to be shipped. AND we do not have any funding for postage at this time, we need to  get instruments and be able to ship them to soldiers, they are not making music and many are in need of something musical.  We recieve an average of 200 TO 300 requests a month and Your donations are the only means we have to get instruments in the hands of our deployed service men and women who need them. Please we need your help!!!!

4 Ways You Can Help

1. Make a financial donation
Shipping costs are a major deterrent to being able to send more musical instruments. Currently there are hundreds of instruments in inventory waiting to be shipped, but minimal funds available to ship them. Please help us get the instruments sent out!

2. Donate instruments
OHN is accepting donations of new or gently used guitars, violins, mandolins, banjos, keyboards, horns of any kind  harmonicas and we even get requests for bagpipes. These can be sent to Operation Happy Note - 518 Hawthorne St. Suite B- Alexandria, MN. 56308 or feel free to contact OHN for details on how to donate at info@operationhappynote.com

3. Donate shipping materials
OHN is in need of shipping items we always have a great need for packing tape, boxes, Styrofoam peanuts, etc. Please contact OHN for details on how to donate.

4. Sponsor A Soldier

OHN is asking for help. For a donation sponsorship of $200 we can place an instrument in the hands of 1 soldier. You can help pick the soldier by reading requests. Add in a picture of yourself or your family, as well as a personal message and/or some contact info. We will obtain an instrument and all the necessary accessories, make sure it is proper working condition or new, provide the packaging supplies, and handle the shipping of the package. Please contact info@operationhappynote.com to get started on providing the whole package for a soldier.

Remember all donations are tax deductible.
